Appraisal expert Cosmo Altobelli
The American Gem Society has published the third edition of the book “The Practical Guide to Jewelry Appraising,” by appraisal expert Cosmo Altobelli. The new edition contains improvised content and according to Altobelli, a Certified Gemologist Appraiser, the content is targeted at both seasoned and novice appraisers alike. “It’s a common mistake to think gemological knowledge is all that is required in appraising jewellery,” he said. “This book introduces the reader to the methodologies of appraising and setting up a professional appraisal service.”
The new edition features updated resource Web sites, sample letters and forms, metal pricing charts, gemstone weight estimation charts, and information on cut grades of the American Gem Society and Gemological Institute of America.
